Clean-up mission 2024: Start of the education program

The joint cleanup mission with the green start-up everwave will be expanded to include an education offensive in Thailand in addition to the mission of the high-tech garbage collection boat CollectiX. This is intended to sensitize pupils to the topic of waste. The cleanup project is funded by the Audi Environmental Foundation, the Ferry Porsche Foundation and the Bentley Environmental Foundation.

The cleanup mission of the four partners, launched in 2023, aims to rid the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok and its side canals of garbage and to establish sustainable recycling systems in cooperation with local partners. Now it is being expanded to include an educational program for pupils, which aims to sensitize children to the topic of waste. The school classes will start with a cleanup campaign along the Phasi Charoen canal, which flows into the Chao Phraya River. The river, serving as a “garbage highway”, transports about 385 tons of waste into the Gulf of Thailand every year.

After the cleanup campaign the pupils will get the task of setting up their own recycling system for the school to keep the environment of their school permanently clean. For one year the project will be accompanied by the local non-governmental organization TerraCycle Global Foundation, to train student teams and teachers and raise awareness of sustainable action.
