“Let’s talk Greenovation”: Sustainable use of resources
On stage this time were: Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart, co-founder of the Cradle2Cradle concept, Dr. Marianne Kuhlmann, co-founder of the Circularity initiative, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rommel, foundation curator and expert on recycling and raw material cycles, and Dr. Christine Lemaitre, Managing Director of the German Sustainable Building Council.
After a welcoming address by Dr. Rüdiger Recknagel, Prof. Michael Braungart began with an impressive keynote speech on the Cradle2Cradle principle, the ideal type of sustainable and future-oriented handling of raw materials.
This was followed by a joint discussion with the other experts on the responsible use of resources, e.g. in the construction industry and in everyday life for each individual.
Experts and funding partners from the foundation network briefly presented thematically relevant projects. On the one hand, our project partner Betty Fuhrmann from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg explained the process of selective extraction of technologically important elements from fly ash. Secondly, Andrea Robien from AUDI AG gave an exciting insight into the remediation of a former refinery site, which is now home to the IN-Campus technology campus.
The experts presented a number of exhibits and souvenirs so that the guests could also experience what was said in a tactile way. Prof. Braungart brought along C2C shoes and an “edible” cushion, Andrea Robien showed rock samples from the IN-Campus that were taken before and after the renovation.
“Let's talk Greenovation” - the THIRD was another informative and uniquely exciting talk evening. We were particularly pleased that many guests took the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with our experts after the event.
Many thanks to the diverse speakers and controversial discussions. See you in October 2024, when it's “Let's talk Greenovation!” again.
